Anyone here do dutch oven cooking? (No Butch, not THAT kind of dutch oven!) Sherry's brother and SIL cooked in dutch ovens non-stop while we were camping with them in Utah and the food was great. On our way back from Utah I purchased a dutch oven at Cabella's, and I have since picked up a couple more. So far I have only cooked a chili verde, but it turned out great. I plan to prepare breakfast in one this weekend as well. Anyone who uses one have any favorite recipes? I do the dutch oven thing! We used to do with my Daughter's American Heritage group they do all kinds of cool things. one of my Favorite websites is: http://papadutch.home.comcast.net/~papadutch/ The best thing to tell you is to pay attention to the coals and turn your oven and top every 15 minutes or what the recipe tells you. My favorite recipe has been our BBQ ribs and Pineapple Upsidedown cake. So far I have only had one thing go wrong and that was just a bad recipe. When we stayed in Yellowstone I did several things Meatloaf, cobbler, ribs, chicken and dumplings (chicken and dumplings, recipe gone wrong, you need a lot of coals for this). Have fun with this type of cooking, it lets you relax while the oven cooks away. Christine

RE: Mid CA 5th Bi- Annual Fall Rally - Oct. 10 & 11th 2008

Hi Got the note for planning things. We most likely will arrive later in the day towards the evening on Friday. We could help out on Saturday for sure. Potluck and BBQ sounds great for Saturday. Dog show would be fun! Our Peanut (Doxen) dresses up on many occasions much to her displeasure. Are the lawns we could do a Boch ball contest? We are low on wood so we don't have any spare wood. Since we this will be our 2nd Rally we are still fairly old and if you need to give us some ideas to help out that is fine. Christine

The Barry Family is back from Yellowstone. Incredible journey, stayed in Nevada at Model T. Not a good experience we had issues with a guest, but overnight it is fine. Stayed in a friends cul de sac in Twin Falls, ID. (We are going to retire there, it is great). Then to Yellowstone, in and out every entrance except NW. We white water rafted, horseback ride and saw every animal possible. We stayed at Fishing Bridge RV Park. Nice park but you are like sardines in there. Central location so it is about the same distance to every end of the park. You don't need a lot of room at the park because you are out doing something all the time. Back home through Salt Lake City (drove 18 hours, my hubby won't do that again), stayed at the Boomtown KOA we really liked it. Spent a few hours at Cabelas and headed home through all the smoke. If you want a idea of Gas costs we actually saw gas at 3.95 once!! The gas in Yellowstone was the cheapest at $4.29 I believe. We spent a total of $1200 on gas. But you know what it was worth every penny to see the sights we saw. - Christine

We are excited we have fish in our pond. We spent the past 4 weekends working on a new pond in our back yard. We are slowly creating a backyard paradise... well I might be getting carried away. We have a nice small garden going too. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Christine

RE: Mid CA 5th Bi- Annual Fall Rally - Oct. 10 & 11th 2008

Hi Everyone, The trailer is home from storage, meal planning is my game this weekend for the big trip. We did have a new adjustment to our plans on the way back from Yellowstone. We are dropping down into Reno for the Famous CABELAs stop. Dave has to go to all Cabela's and he has not been there yet. We are wondering if anyone can suggest a good RV Overnighter in the area of Reno. We will spend the night there and then head home the next day. If anyone can share a favorite let us know!!

RE: Mid CA 5th Bi- Annual Fall Rally - Oct. 10 & 11th 2008

Almost Yellowstone!!! And all I can say is thank goodness my parents are staying at our home to take care of all our animals. One precious Doxen gets to go on the trip. The Beagle/Fox Terrier, cat, rabbit, and fish and garden plants and new pond get to stay safe with the parents! I can now relax! We are so excited, except it sounds like it is still snowing there off and on... I hope it is nice for our whitewater rafting and horseback ride! I am counting the days! It will be so nice and relaxing!

RE: Mid CA 5th Bi- Annual Fall Rally - Oct. 10 & 11th 2008

Hi Everyone, We have been so busy working in the back yard and doing fun stuff we have not posted in ages. Wow sorry to hear about the MH incident with the tow truck company! I am reading back in posts but if I miss anything I should have responded to let me know :E I hope all the moms had a great Mother's Day. We had a wedding on Saturday to attend, Brunch in the a.m. on Sunday, and BBQ with the MIL. We had a great time, but I probably gained back the weight I lost! I was put on a new blood pressure medicine after a big event a couple of Friday's back where they thought of all things I was having Congestive Heart Failure, WELLLL I just about did after they said that! That scared the @*$R^ out of me. But I am fine after 3.5 hours of being freaked out. With a 11 year old daughter you don't want to hear that stuff! So now I am all fixed up and doing my exercise like a good patient. Damn it is hard getting old!. I can't wait to see everyone in a few months. We are still going to Yellowstone no matter how high the idiots raise the gas! We have wanted to go for years and pretty soon Amanda won't want to do these things with us fuddy dundy parents. Let me know if I did not respond to anything! Christine

Yahoooooooooo it's Friday! My first work Friday in 6 months. I had forgotten how important Friday's are, but it's all coming back to me now. Anyone going camping this weekend? We're staying home, Ray's got a garden project that he's enlisting my help for. Dave & Christine, my apologies. I'll make those corrections NOW! Have a good weekend all. Lee and Shelia, don't work too hard packing! No big on the name I just thought it was kind of funny. It must be the Secretary in me :)
